Left coalition wins University of Hyderabad polls

The post of vice president was won by Bukya Sunder, pursuing a PhD in Cognitive Sciences.

Hyderabad: A coalition named the United Front for Social Justice — a supergroup made up of the Students’ Federation of India, the Dalit Students’ Union, Tribal Students’ Forum, Bahujan Students Front and Telangana Vidyarthi Vedika — won all six positions in the Students’ Union elections of University of Hyderabad.

The election saw a tight race for the post of president between RSS-affiliate Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and CPM-backed SFI. Kuldeep Singh Nagi of the SFI, pursuing his PhD in Economics, won the post of president by a margin of just 52 votes over Gopikrishna of ABVP, who is pursuing an MA in History.

The post of vice president was won by Bukya Sunder, pursuing a PhD in Cognitive Sciences. The general secretary post was won by Suman Damera, pursuing PhD in political science and the joint secretary seat was taken by Pilli Vijay Kumar, an MA student in political science.
