More Air India flights to Belagavi soon, says MP

Airport upgradation work would be over by March next year and it would make improve Belagavi's air connectivity.

In order to improve Air India's on-time performance, it has recruited 265 pilots in the last one year to address shortage besides hiring 902 additional cabin crew members.

Belagavi: Air India will soon introduce Boeing aircraft between Belagavi-Bengaluru and Belagavi-Mumbai after the  completion of the ongoing airport upgradation work at Belagavi. According to Lok Sabha member Suresh Angadi Air India has given a green signal for the landing of Boeing planes from Belagavi to fulfill the long-awaited demand of this region.

At a review meeting of airport development authority held at Belagavi airport, Mr Angadi said, the airport upgradation work would be over by March next year and it would make improve Belagavi’s air connectivity.

The extension of the runway, installation of radar tower and building of terminal were some of the major ongoing works for which the Union Government has released Rs 142 crore, he said.

The MP said the Air India Chairman and MD Ashwin Lavsani has assured him that the airline would increase its flights after the completion of airport upgrade work.
