Mysuru: Dasara flower expo to have Gateway of India, Tejas
Over two lakh exotic flowers are being brought from Ooty and Hosur from Tamil Nadu to create the floral models.
Mysuru: A 28 ft tall floral model of the Gateway of India at Mumbai fashioned out of 1.50 lakh rose buds promises to be the show stopper during the 12 day Dasara flower show at Nishad Bagh.
Added attractions will be a floral model of a 20ft tall Tejas fighter aircraft, being sculpted using one lakh rose buds, orchids and chrysanthemums, and a flowery tribute to an ambassador car.
Children will get to see the Chota Bheem family, Donald Duck and Micky Mouse sculpted in flowers and the more politically minded can gawk at a model of the late iconic Chief Minister, Devraj Urs, being fashioned from noodles to mark his 101st birth anniversary.

Meanwhile, the police is leaving nothing to chance and is providing tight security for the Mysuru Dasara owing to the ongoing Cauvery agitation and the terrorist attack on the Mysuru Court complex.
Over 4214 police, 80 commandos of the RAF and Mysuru Commando Force, 46 KSRP and CAR platoons, 1400 home guards , 23 anti- sabotage check squads, 23 dog squads, three bomb detective and disposal squads, and 32 special officers from Bengaluru will provide security to begin with before additional forces arrive on October 7, according to city police commissioner, B Dayanand.
As many as 47 CCTV cameras have been fixed at various points, including 12 venues of the Dasara events and the police at the Mysuru city control room will keep a close watch on the Jumbo Savari. Eighty students of tourism and 55 trained Pravasi Mithras will guide tourists on all days of the festival.
