SI, who harassed minors, transferred

The teenagers alleged that they were locked inside the station for seven hours.

Hyderabad: Mahesh Bhagwat, Rachakonda police commissioner, has issued a memo to Venkat Reddy, sub-inspector of the Medipally station, for keeping three minors, including a 17-year-old girl, confined in the station for seven hours recently. The SI has also been transferred, the commissioner said.

On September 14, the minors had gone to the station to enquire about their father, who was booked under a harassment case filed by their mother. The teenagers alleged that they were locked inside the station for seven hours.

and were let off at around 10 pm. The commissioner had ordered an inquiry and directed the Malkajgiri DCP to submit a report.

“I got the report and issued a memo to Venkat Reddy and he is transferred.” the commissioner said.

The teenagers had also alleged that the police abused them and did not provide drinking water.
