Mysuru: The historic Mysuru Palace came alive on Sunday with the erstwhile royal family of Mysuru conducting traditional poojas and rituals of Dasara providing a glimpse of a bygone royal era. Scion of the royal family Sri Yaduveer Krishnadaththa Chamaraja Wadiyar, ascended the 800 year old gem-studded golden throne attired in royal robes. His mother Rajmata Pramoda Devi Wadiyar, wife, Trishikadevi Wadiyar, son Aadyaveer Narasimharaja Wadiyar and biological mother Tripurasundaradevi participated in the private Darbar.
Sri Yaduveer participated in the ritual to attach the mask of the lion to the golden throne and later offered poojas to the family deity Goddess Chamundeswari. He then ascended the throne and accepted prasadam from various temples. As he ascended and descended from the golden throne, the palace band played the former state anthem of the then Mysuru state, ‘Kaayo Sri Gowri.’ Sri Yaduveer will hold private darbar till October 7 and later, the mask of the lion will be removed from the golden throne.
