Hyderabad: Residents of several colonies in the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) area are complaining about shortage of drinking water supply. An official of the SCB’s water wing, however, blamed the Hyderabad Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) for the crisis.

“We got water supply only once in the last 15 days. We are forced to buy packaged water for drinking,” said a resident from Sripuri colony. The situation in most of the colonies in the area is the same.

Several residents of Gruhalakshmi colony, Vasavi Nagar Colony, R&D Colony in Karkhana and surrounding areas of Kakaguda said the water supply was irregular and of low pressure.

A resident of Kakaguda said, “It has been a week since we got water. We cannot afford to buy water, as the suppliers have increased prices.”

Mr Telukunta Sathish Gupta, another resident of the locality, said, “We are paying higher tariff compared to adjoining municipal areas, but we are the most affected in terms of water shortage and infrastructure.”
