Warangal: Festival begins at Bhadrakali temple
Devotees have darshan of Bala Tripura Sundari
WARANGAL: The historic Bhadrakali temple in Warangal was beautifully decorated with flowers on Sunday for the Devi Sharan Navaratri mahotsavams which began on a grand note.
Chief Whip Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar took part in the inaugural rituals along with his family. The Dwajarohanam and Kalasastapana rituals conducted by temple chief priest B. Seshu marked the beginning of the nine-day long event.
Devotees in large numbers had darshan of the presiding deity in the form of Bala Tripura Sundari.
Later in the day, the ornaments which were presented by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao were presented before Rudreshwara Swamy in the Thousand Pillar Temple. Following the rituals, the ornaments were taken to the Bhadrakali temple in a procession. Scores of devotees took part in the procession marked by chants of Bhadrakali Sharanam Mama.
Mruga vahana seva programme marked the evening celebrations at the temple.
Similarly, the Navaratri celebrations were inaugurated by PR&RD minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao at the Padmakshi temple on the Hanumadgiri hillock.
Speaking on the occasion, he said, the temples in Telangana have regained their former sheen after the formation of the new state.
The state government is making all the arrangements for the devotees taking part in the Navaratri utsavams. He reminded that Telangana is celebrating its own festivals and the state is playing its role by giving Bathukamma saris at a cost of Rs 313 crore. “The women of Warangal must feel proud as the descendants of Rani Rudramadevi,” he said.
