Students stumble on English writing

Hyderabad: The art of good writing cannot be substituted by anything else. Perhaps that is why, most foreign universities demand a statement of purpose that highlights one’s vocabulary and usage of grammar during the application procedure.
The admission process in foreign universities often seems a daunting task for students, say agencies.
Srinivas Raju, official from Education Matters, an advisory service, said, “From September to January, we have a lot of students coming in with their queries on studying in the United Kingdom, the United States and Australia. We help them until the enrollment. We help in personalising their resumes so that their credentials are highlighted and also help with written paper submissions.”

Madhu Reddy, an official from PRW Group, said, “What we basically do is write well. The statement of purpose varies from university to university. While some ask for 800 words, others seek 1,200 words. The key is to grab the attention of the person reading it.”
Universities abroad also send queries to students regarding any gap in education and qualifications. “We also answer questions posed by the university in an appealing way. There is a specific format for each place and we follow the same,” added Mr Madhu.
Officials said that the main problem of applications submitted in foreign universities is grammatical errors.
Ashwin Naidu from S9 Consultancy said, “They have to interlink their graduation and aspiration from their future studies. It varies from course to course like maths, biotechnology and others. We ensure that no application has grammatical errors.”
