BJP yathra to trigger communal frenzy: LDF

Thiruvananthapuram: The LDF on Monday said the  BJP's proposed rath yathra to Sabarimala is a planned move to destroy law and order in the state.

LDF convenor A Vijayaraghavan alleged that the BJP wanted to do a repeat of the terror created by L.K. Advani during his Ram Rath Yathra to Ayodhya. While the  Ram Rath yathra led to the destruction of Babri Masjid, the Sabarimala yathra is aimed at destroying peace in Kerala ‘’There  is a move to create communal divide and religious polarisation for destroying the secular fabric of the state," Vijayaraghavan said.

The LDF accused BJP national president Amit Shah of directing his partymen to spread communal hatred in the state at any cost.  The open threat issued by him the other day gave enough hints about their devious plans. "The BJP aim is to create law and order problem warranting Central intervention.  The Sabarimala rath yathra was planned from Kasargod to Sabarimala in the presence of Amit Shah," the LDF convenor said.

Vijayaraghavan said the Rath Yathra is the last weapon in BJP's hands to dislodge a democratically-elected government.   "It will be good for the BJP to recollect the manner in which people outrightly rejected Kummanam Rajashekharan's yathra.  A society which upholds democratic values cannot accept such undemocratic actions," he said.
