Chorus for foot over-bridge at Kukatpally junction grows louder

Hyderabad: A foot over bridge at the Kukatpally junction could have saved the life of 17-year-old Ramya, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad students unions said.
They have made several representations demanding construction of an FoB in the area.
“Local authorities and college managements should be responsible and take the initiative to construct a FoB since thousands of students use that stretch for regular commuting,” Sasidhar Vuppala, a former member of the Students Union of JNTUH said. “We are demanding an FoB as thousands cross the road,” he added.
at the busy Kukatpally junction. The only solution at that junction is to construct a foot over bridge because we cannot blame the traffic police too. They keep shouting with a public address system and ask people not to cross the road and avoid oncoming traffic. Measures should be taken immediately to avoid any such unfortunate incidents in future,” he added.
Surender Tadepally, a former member of the Students Union of JNTUH said, “Due to metro pillars at the busy Kukatpally junction it has become really difficult for the commuters to cross the roads. This junction badly needs a foot over bridge because many unfortunate incidents have occurred and they have not been highlighted much. Apart from the students, even aged people are facing trouble in crossing these roads.”
Assistant Commissioner, Cyberabad Traffic Police, A Chandra Sekhar said, “Already there is one metro rail foot over bridge which can be used by the commuters because it is just 30 to 50 metres away from the junction. Even Hyderabad Metro Rail authorities have issued an instruction that the people can use their stairs, escalators and lifts to go through the metro foot over bridge. It would be nice if a foot over bridge is constructed here, but until then the people can use the metro foot over bridge.”
