Security provided to Swami Sandeepananda Giri

Armed police personnel have been deployed for providing security cover to Sandeepananda Giri and the ashram.

The body was fished out by firefighters from Punalur on Thursday morning and has been kept at Punalur taluk hospital mortuary.

Thiruvananthapuram: While the police is yet to get any definite leads regarding the attack on the ashram of Swami Sandeepananda Giri here, police security has been provided to Sandeepananda Giri.

Armed police personnel have been deployed for providing security cover to Sandeepananda Giri and the ashram. According to police sources, various angles pertaining to the incident were being probed into. "We are not limiting the probe only to the Sabarimala women-entry related issues. Other possible angles like previous enmities are also being looked into," said police sources.It was widely suspected that the attack on the Ashram at Kundamankadavu here during the wee hours of Saturday was  provoked by Sandeepananda Giri's support for women entry at Sabarimala.With forensic reports confirming that petrol was used to set ablaze two cars and a scooter, the police was also collecting footages from CCTV cameras of nearby petrol pumps.

Deputy commissioner of police R Aadhithya on Monday called on Sandeepananda Giri and took his statement.
