Three held for series of vehicle thefts, phone snatchings
Police have seized three motorbikes and 10 cell phones from their possession.
Chennai: Police on Sunday nabbed three men who involved in a series of vehicle theft and mobile snatchings in the city.
The accused, Logesh (24), and a 17-year-old boy of Maduravoyal used to targeted lone pedestrians in Valasaravakkam, Maduravoyal and Virugambakkam areas and snatched their mobile phones, said police. A special team of police headed by Mangadu superintendent of police conducted a vehicle checkup near Nellikuppam on Sunday night. When police stopped a two-wheeler, the man on the bike refused to stop the vehicle, but he was soon chased and caught by the officials. The investigation revealed that the accused Logesh and the juvenile had been involved in a series of mobile snatchings and vehicle thefts.
Based on his inputs, the police recovered seven motorcycles and five mobile phones from them. Police have seized three motorbikes and 10 cell phones from their possession. Similarly, Sarath Babu (35) of Nellikuppam in Mangadu is a call taxi and was intercepted by the Mangadu patrol night.
“He was taken to the police station and during an inquiry, it was found that he stole several motorcycles from Mangadu, Poonamalle and Kundrathur areas,” said a police officer.
Police have seized 16 motorcycles and arrested him. Mangadu police have registered a case.
