Technology is reducing barriers, says Ivanka Trump

The panel called for an end to women being undervalued and underpaid, considering the stagnation in the gender-wage gap.

Hyderabad: When you invest in women, they invest back into the community, was a mantra that reverberated throughout the Summit on its second day. 

“One of the reasons we are seeing an explosion of women in entrepreneurship is because traditional workplaces never worked for us. Women are working for their families. After years and years of cultural and social differences, they are finding ways to support modern workforce and technology is reducing barriers,” said Ivanka Trump. 

Ms Trump appreciated the digital village outreach initiative taken up by ICICI Bank which is enabling one lakh people. Speaking about the government’s assistance to entrepreneurs, Ms Trump said, “All innovation comes from the private sector, and it is incredible that entrepreneurs are taking up the world's greatest challenges with a focus on humanitarian initiatives and new ideas. Government rules have to fuel entrepreneurship and not limit it.”

The panel called for an end to women being undervalued and underpaid, considering the stagnation in the gender-wage gap. 

They noted that the gender landscape is changing and women want to work and are in need of work. 

"It is all about choice and diversity. All men are alike and all women are alike. We should embrace diversity and respect each other's choices," said Ms Blair.
