DSP's mobile phone snatched in Kovai
The cop, attached to anti-land grabbing cell, was travelling in a bus in civilian clothes when the incident happened.
Coimbatore: The city police have launched a search for a miscreant who unwittingly robbed the cell phone of all persons a senior Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) who reportedly visited Coimbatore on official work.
According to police sources, Radha Krishnan 53, a resident of Ganapthy in Coimbatore works as a DSP in the district anti-land-grabbing cell in Erode. He came down to Coimbatore on Wednesday in connection with a case and was returning to Erode in civil dress.
After getting into the Erode bus at Gandhipuram central bus stand here, he noticed his expensive mobile phone suddenly missing from his shirt pocket.
Immediately, he lodged a complaint with the Kattoor police close to the bus terminus.
Acting quickly on the DSP's complaint, police verified CCTV camera footages installed at the bus stand, and found a picture showing a youth robbing the mobile phone of Radha Krishnan while he was boarding the bus.
The incident has created ripples in police circles here. The city police are now pouring over a detailed list of 'repeat offenders' involved in mobile phone heist in Coimbatore in a bid to nab the miscreant.
