Hyderabad: An electronic voting machine (EVM) developed a technical snag at Booth 29 in Addagutta in Secunderabad Assembly constituency, causing tense moments for staff. Engineers rectified the snag and the voting process commenced at 7.45 am.

Mild tension prevailed at a polling booth in Allauddin Koti in Sanathnagar when Congress candidate K. Neelima arrived. She took strong exception to the presence of BRS leaders at the polling booth resulting, in an argument.

At the same time, the EVM developed a snag when over 400 voters were in the queue. The staff sorted out the snag enabling all the voters to cast their vote. The police later dispersed everyone from the premises.

Many voters stood in queues at polling booths in the afternoon at Government Polytechnic College in East Marredpally. Separate sheets containing voters’ details were placed at the main entrance of the polling booth helping them to know their name along with a serial number to easily complete the polling process inside the polling booth.

In Sanathnagar Assembly constituency, voters thronged the polling booths in large numbers in the afternoon. Long queues were seen at polling booths in a government school in Nallagutta and Audaiah Memorial School in Ranigunj. The same was the case in a polling booth in Sindhi Colony on Prenderghast Road.
