Chennai: 4-year-old girl dies after falling off balcony

The girl's body was handed over to her parents after autopsy. Case has been registered.

Chennai: A four-year-old girl, who attempted to climb the parapet wall in the balcony, died after she fell down from the third floor of her apartment house in Esplanade on Wednesday. The deceased child has been identified as A Kadeeja.

The mishap took place around 5.30 pm  Wednesday and she was taken to local hospital from where she was shifted to Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital.

She died there at around 10 pm. Police after conducting enquiries said Kadeeja was playing in the hall and her mother Rasheeda, 32, was busy in the kitchen. Her father, Ali Ascar was away at his own steel business in Mannadi.

The girl went to the balcony from where she fell down while scaling over the parapet wall, police said. She was found in a pool of blood on the ground and was taken to hospital. The girl’s body was handed over to her parents after autopsy. Case has been registered.
