Kerala: Attack exposes BJP's fascist face, says Kodiyeri Balakrishnan
BJP leaders questioning MT's right to speak on demonetisation is ridiculous, Mr Balakrishnan said.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan on Thursday said that the BJP’s attack on M.T. Vasudevan Nair exposed Sangh Parivar’s fascist face.
In a statement here, Mr Balakrishnan said that Narendra Modi’s decision to demonetise currencies reflected Mr Modi’s anarchist style of governance. All right thinking, sane and patriotic people would oppose his move, he added.
By terming MT’s reaction to the demonetisation as a major crime and by trying to attack him personally on the issue, the Sangh Parivar organisations are resorting to primitive acts.
BJP leaders questioning MT’s right to speak on demonetisation is ridiculous, Mr Balakrishnan said. MT has the right and deserves more than anyone else to air his opinion on such issues. India is not a Banana Republic to dance to the tunes of Sangh Parivar and to stick to the Lakshman Rekha drawn by it, he said.
Mr Balakrishnan said the derogatory posts from Sangh Parivar activists on social networking sites reflected their fascist approach. While commenting on demonetisation, the eminent writer had only conveyed the deep resentment prevailing among the people, Mr Balakrishnan said.
Support galore for MT
Political parties and prominent personalities have come out in support of M.T Vasudevan Nair on the issue of BJP criticising MT’s stand against demonetisation. IUML state general secretary K.PA Majeed said that the Sangh agenda against MT should be resisted by all means.
“BJP leader A.N Radhakrishnan’s statement against MT is an attempt to block writers and intellectuals who do not bow down to the RSS agenda. This is a continuation of the killing of Narendra Dabholkar, M.M Kalburgi and Govind Pansare,” said Mr Majeed.
Prominent historian M.G.S Narayanan also flayed the BJP criticism on MT. “It is wrong to say that only subject experts can express an opinion on matters like demonetisation which affects people across all walks of life,” he said. M.K Raghavan MP said that the BJP criticism was an infringement of the fundamental right of freedom of expression.
