Hyderabad: Ex-MLA holds rally in favour of NRC, CAA
The rally was led by former Uppal MLA N.V.S.S. Prabhakar, who was joined by Mr P. Hanumantha Rao and other local BJP leaders.
Hyderabad: Members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday staged a rally at Ramanthapur in support of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) as well as the National Register of Citizens (NRC). Scores of people walked from the Shivaji statue to the Doordarshan TV studio in the locality, shouting slogans in support of the CAA. They also held placards which read, “We stand united for CAA and NRC” and “I am an Indian and I support CAA & NRC.”
The rally was led by former Uppal MLA N.V.S.S. Prabhakar, who was joined by Mr P. Hanumantha Rao and other local BJP leaders.
Interestingly, organiser V. Gowtham said they had no trouble from the police in getting permission for the protest. “Prabhakar sir got the permission from the Rachakonda police,” he said. Activists across the city continue to be upset with police in the tri-commisionerate area for not granting them permissions for protests.
On Saturday, Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) spokesperson Amjadullah Khan said, “Permissions are being given to AIMIM, RSS and BJP. But whenever we are applying for permissions, (police) say they can’t give written permission. How come some people get permissions and others cannot? This has been going on for a long time in Telangana state.”
