Come, take a historical tour of Kovai!
Visitors amused seeing various exhibits of their city from across decades.
Coimbatore: It was an Exhibition that took the Kovaites on an exciting ride of seeing ‘Coimbatore through ages’, as the second day of ‘Coimbatore Vizha’ was all about a tour to the transformation of Kovai in to an urban centre. Everything was portrayed at the Lakshmi Mills.
There were other showcasing events like ‘Kirtilal heritage exhibition’, which showcased the history of jewellery in Coimbatore; history of Sarvajana School, one of the oldest schools in Coimbatore; medical exhibition at the Western Ghats International School, display of original early mid-20th century Tamil art by ‘Raja Ravi Varma Art Foundation’ at Jenneys Residency and incredible Coimbatoreans and timeless facades and installations of IIA by Intaach, the Vanavarayar Foundation, Indian Institute of Architects.
There were also events related to health and music organised at Brookefields Mall.
An art exhibition on ‘picturing pain’ where school children drew about various kind of pains; there was a street play on food and how much it can trigger cancer by the ‘Coimbatore Cancer Foundation’ and also a yoga performance.
It was followed by a musical treat by various bands such as Tech Music by PSG College, Namma Kovai song by Laaz Music Band and Kadambari by Shivanjani.
The special ‘Coimbatore Vizha city tour’ saw registrations by over 100 people.
The free three-hour tour begun from Lakshmi Mills and went through Avinashi road, the Heritage Exhibit in PSG Sarvajana School, Old Coimbatore, etc.
