India to launch 2 more satellites in March: ISAC
India, launched its first satellite 1A in 2013, followed by four more satellites 1B and 1C in 2014, 1D in 2015 and 1E in January this year.
Krishnagiri: The director of the ISRO satellite centre, Mylswamy Annadurai, said the launch of two more ‘Indian regional navigation satellite system (IRNSS) 1F and 1G’ was slated for March 31.
On Saturday, he was here for attending a private school function held at Hosur in Krishnagiri district.
Mr Annadurai, while speaking to reporters, said that India has planned to launch seven IRNSS satellites. So far, five including the first launch for this year on January 20, has been completed.
The project costing Rs 1350 crores for nine satellites, seven in the orbit and another two as standby, will put India on par with the advanced GPS system put into orbit by the USA, he said.

The final works for launching two more satellites 1F and 1G would be completed before March 31, 2016.
Four satellites are sufficient for the navigation system but three more are being sent to enable accurate information to the users across the country and region, beyond up to an area of 1500 km, he said.
Annadurai in his speech to the school students said, “Pleased to hear that most of the students aspire to become aeronautical engineers; it shows that India will be on the global forefront of innovation and space research if the children are motivated at the school level”
