Kerala: Assembly's pat for saviour of accident victim

He told the Assembly that those who help accident victims would get all legal protection.

Thiruvananthapuram: Ranjini Ramachandran, the Kochi-based lawyer, and her daughter who helped an accident victim even as many others remained as onlookers on Saturday, received a  pat from the state Assembly on Tuesday. "The act of Ranjini, while others remained as mute spectators, is a model to society with frigid hearts. The House as a whole appreciates the act of Ranjini and her daughter," Speaker P. Sreeramakrishnan said.

Chief Minister Mr. Pinarayi Vijayan also complimented Ranjini for her  model act  and expressed shock that many remained as mute spectators when a man fell down from the top of a building.  He  told the Assembly that those who help accident victims would get all legal protection.  He also urged the people to   help accident victims. Congress MLA Hibi Eden, who raised the issue in the House in a submission, said  that the government should bring in a  law to ensure protection as well as to reward those helping accident victims.
