Visakhapatnam: Minister opens godowns in Bhamini

The State Warehousing Corporation has spent Rs 5.20 crore to build 10,000-tonne capacity warehouses in an area of 57,200 sq ft.

Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh energy minister Kimidi Kala Venkata Rao has inaugurated two warehouses in Bhamini village for the farmers of Srikakulam district on Tuesday.

The State Warehousing Corporation has spent Rs 5.20 crore to build 10,000-tonne capacity warehouses in an area of 57,200 sq ft along with 60-tonne weighing bridge, office building and other basic facilities.

On the occasion, the minister said the state government has been working in favour of the farmers. It has so far waived off '24,000 crore worth farm loans in the state. Moreover, it helped in the supply of seeds and fertilisers. It has distributed about 690 tractors to small and marginal farmers in Srikakulam district under the scheme ‘Rythu Ratham’. AP Warehousing Cor-poration chairman L.V.S.R.K. Prasad said they are planning to build another 70,000-80,000 tonnes capacity warehouse in Srikakulam district. 

Within a year, they are going to start constructing 5,000 tonnes capacity warehouse in Bhamini again.

According to AP Warehousing Corporation regional manager D. Satyam, they have recently started two warehouses of 10,000 tonnes capacity each at Donkinavalasa and Parawada mandals of Vizianagaram district. Similarly, it plans to open warehouses at Narayanav-alasa, Balijipeta and Byripuram of the district.
