Shutdown of 500 KV line for a week may affect Telangana
The line carries 2,000 MW of power between the two regions.
Hyderabad: The shutdown of the 500 KV high voltage direct current line for maintenance for about seven days may impact consumers in Telangana state.
The Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) will shut down the line between Talcher in Odisha and Kolar in Karnataka that transmits power from the eastern region to South India, for maintenance and overhaul. It will be observed from January 31 to February 6.
The line carries 2,000 MW of power between the two regions. The power is usually supplied from Stage 2 of the Talcher thermal oower station to all southern states. During the shutdown, power will be diverted by the National Load Dispatch Center through other inter-regional links.
TS Transco director, grid operations, B. Narasinga Rao in a press statement said all possible steps were being taken to step up internal generation to minimise the impact on TS.
