Bengaluru: Efforts to salvage three trees, which were poisoned to enable a clearer view of a hoarding on the Outer Ring Road near Marathahalli, have met with success, claim activists.

Nearly three weeks ago tree lovers were up in arms when 17 trees were poisoned and branches of 13 were trimmed for the sake of a better view of an Apple iPhone hoarding.

Bengaluru’s tree doctor Vijay Nishanth alerted the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike, which was unaware and had taken no action.

Liquid bandages were applied to three poisoned trees, while the rest 14 could not be saved.

Nishanth, who had kept a close watch on the trees’ progress, on Thursday posted pictures on his Facebook wall and stated, “All three trees have survived... New leaves have sprouted and it is a sign that these trees have life.” He said, “we will get a complete picture of their condition after they shed leaves.”
