Rains hit Kerala, to advance

Hyderabad: The south-west monsoon touched the Kerala coast on May 30, covering parts of the Arabian Sea, parts of Kerala, Bay of Bengal and some north-eastern states. The weather bureau has announced that conditions are favourable for further advancement.
Speaking to this newspaper, Y.K. Reddy, director of the Indian Meteorological Department, Hyderabad, said, “The south-west monsoon is likely to reach Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema in the next two to three days, and will reach Telangana by the end of the first week of June.”

On May 30, the south-west monsoon further advanced into some more parts of the south Arabian Sea, remaining parts of Maldives Comorin area, southern parts of Lakshadweep, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, some more parts of south-west Bay of Bengal, remaining parts of south-east Bay of Bengal, some parts of west central Bay of Bengal, most parts of east central and northeast Bay of Bengal and some parts of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh.
The forecast for the state on May 31: Light to moderate rain/thundershowers very likely to occur at isolated places. The maximum temperature is likely to be two to three degrees above normal at isolated places over Telangana.
Forecast for the city: Rain or thundershowers would occur towards evening or night.
