Chengannur bypoll results today by noon

Alappuzha: All arrangements have been made for the counting of votes in the Chengannur byelection.  

District Electoral Officer and Collector T.V. Anupama said that security has beefed up at at Christian College at Chengannur, the counting centre.

K.D. Kunjam. The postal ballots will be counted in the first phase at 8 am. As many as 14 tables have been set up for counting. Counting assistants, counting supervisor and micro observer will be present on each table. In the first round, votes of 14 polling booths will be counted. There were 181 polling booths in the constituency. After the counting of each round, the micro observer and presiding officer will examine the results. After entering data in computer system, the next round counting will begin. The counting will be completed with 13 rounds and the result will be finalised by 12 noon, the Collector said.

As many as 69 employees are entrusted for the counting and the training was given to the officers with the presence of observer Mr Kunjam.

Mobile phones are banned inside the counting station. The representatives of political parties and counting agents would be allowed to enter in counting centre with any communication system in the centre, Collector said.
