Chennai: Protect temples, cows, says Kanchi acharya

The Peetadhipathi of the ancient Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Mutt also stressed on the importance of conducting moral instruction classes for the young minds.

Chennai: The Kanchi acharya Sri Vijayendra Saraswathi Swami has called upon people to strive to protect the ancient temples besides gho salas.

The Peetadhipathi of the ancient Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Mutt also stressed on the importance of conducting moral instruction classes for the young minds. The acharya was speaking after participating in the Jeernotharana Ashtabandana Maha Kumbhabhishekam of Sri Rathna Vinayagar temple at Perambur, here, dedicated to Sri Kanchi Mutt, on Wednesday. The day also marked his 37th Sanyasa Sweekarana Dhinam. Sri Vijayendra Saraswathi Swami personally entered the Sannadhi of Sri Rathna Vinayagar temple and performed abishekam to the Lord. Sources said he had visited the temple along with the Maha Periyava before he was administered the sanyasa. Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments department Commissioner K. Phanindra Reddy and other officials participated.
