K Chandrasekhar Rao raises river dispute with Jagan Mohan Reddy
Congratulating Mr Reddy, Mr Rao said from the dais that there was a dispute between the two states over utilising the Krishna river waters.
Hyderabad: Telangana state Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is known to use every opportunity to put forth his case before the people, and did so again on Thursday during the swearing-in ceremony of AP Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Congratulating Mr Reddy, Mr Rao said from the dais that there was a dispute between the two states over utilising the Krishna river waters.
He said that there were no dispute over the Godavari river water as both states were ulilising it as per the allocation.
He said both states would prosper only when they amicably share the Krishna waters and make optimum use of the waters of the two waters.
“It is time to overcome the issues in sharing the Krishna river waters by addressing each other’s concerns,” he said, adding that every inch of the two Telugu states should be covered with lush green crops by making use of their due share of river waters.
Indicating to the disputes over the river that are stuck in the Krishna tribunal, Mr Rao felt that the two states should not be rivals, but partners of mutual benefit.
He said, “This great occasion should mark the beginning of a new phase in the relations of the two states.” He said a great responsibility on hand for the two governments is the optimum utilisation of Godavari waters.
