Kozhikode: Three more police stations to be child-friendly
Training for police officers under the guidance of UNICEF will be held at Yash International Hotel, Mavoor road, from May 28 to June 2.
Kozhikode: Three more police stations here will become child- friendly apart from the already existing town police station. The new ones are Nallalam, Marad and women police cell that will protect children from criminal offences through various means, including awareness classes.
The Kerala police has introduced the system in cooperation with agencies and companies to guide children and the elderly to live without fear.
"This initiative launched at six selected police stations in the state with the help of UNICEF became popular quickly," said A.N. Radhakrishnan, assistant commissioner of police, traffic, south. The system will be introduced in 54 more police stations in the state. The bureau of police research and development will start it at the national level, he added.
Training for police officers under the guidance of UNICEF will be held at Yash International Hotel, Mavoor road, from May 28 to June 2. City police commissioner A.V. George will inaugurate the second batch of the programme on June 6.
