MNR nursing students tense after college loses INC affiliation

HYDERABAD: Students of MNR College of Nursing in Sangareddy's Narsapur, and their parents, have been left in the lurch after the college failed to get recognition from Indian Nursing Council (INC). As its affiliation for the year 2022-2023 is yet to be approved, the students are worried about the fate of their next semester.

Meanwhile, with the next semester's exams of BSc (nursing) scheduled to begin on June 20, the students have been asked to pay examination fees by June 18.

"The fee process begins on June 5 and we are in a tight spot. What will happen after we write exams from a college that has no recognition? It is difficult to trust the institution's promise that things are being sorted out," said a worried student.
The college recently sent a circular that they are doing the needful to follow procedures as per the professional body's guidance.

"The procedures are expected to be completed by June 30. We assure you that the nursing program affiliation of 2022-23 would be completed and there will not be any interruption in the academic year. The organisation is committed to delivering the best educational experience for nursing aspirants," the circular, signed by the principal Sobhana, read.

Speaking to the Deccan Chronicle, she said that she is hopeful that the licence will be restored by the end of June.

"We missed out on the affiliation this year because of a delay in submitting some documents. They are all ready now," she said.

"Why should the students be in an anxious state for no fault of theirs? This is unfair and the college cannot demand examination fees at such a juncture," argued a parent, whose daughter is a student of the college.

"We have sought a loan for our child’s education and the bank has asked for documents about the college's affiliation. The college has not been very responsive. We will wait until June 30 before deciding on some painful alternatives. The mental trauma is unbearable," added another parent.
Meanwhile, Vidyavathi, registrar of Telangana State Nurses Midwives Auxiliary Nurse-Midwives and Health Visitors Council, was unreachable for comment.
