Warangal: In an inhuman act, a father tried to sell his son for Rs.2.5 lakh to a family belonging to Hyderabad.

The incident which took place four days back came to light when the mother of the child lodged a complaint in the Mattewada police station here in Hanamkonda on Tuesday.

According to Circle inspector Venkateshwarlu, Shaik Masood and Kousar, residents of Karimabad area of Warangal city had two sons Ayaan (4) and Irfan (1). Four days back when Irfan fell ill, Masood and Kousar took their child to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) hospital for treatment.

When the doctors asked the couple to get their child admitted to the hospital, Kousar decided to stay with their younger son and Masood informed Kousar that he was taking Ayaan to a relative’s house to arrange some money.

But instead of going to Karimabad where his relatives lived, Masood went to Pochammaidan and sold his son to a family from Hyderabad for around Rs.2.5 lakh. Masood told his wife Kousar that he left Ayaan at her mother’s house.

But when Kousar’s brother, Akbar visited his sick nephew Irfan at MGM hospital, his sister learned that Masood had not dropped their child at her parent's house.

Kousar and with her brother Akbar questioned Masood about Ayaan, who admitted to then selling their child to a family based in Hyderabad. It was then that both Kousar and Akbar lodged a complaint against Masood in the Mattewada police station.

The police officials registered a case against Masood and also against the family who purchased the boy and started an investigation.
