Telangana I-T department goes after parents for Eamcet-2 pay-offs

CID which is probing the scam suspects that nearly 130 students were beneficiaries of the leaked paper.

Hyderabad: The Income Tax department is closely following the Eamcet-2 leakage probe in view of lakhs of rupees changing hands between parents and agents, who lured them on the pretext of arranging question papers for their son or daughter appearing for the medical entrance test conducted by the Telangana state government.

The Rs 30 lakh to Rs 40 lakh that parents were reportedly ready to shell out will mostly be unaccounted money, according to I-T officials.

The Crime Investigation Department which is probing the scam suspects that nearly 130 students were beneficiaries of the leaked paper, as of now. The number might increase since the CID is expecting a big racket and involvement of more in the scam.

I-T sleuths will be contacting the CID and other government departments for all information pertaining to parents and students involved in the scam.
