Don't politicise flag issue: Dinesh Gundurao
He said that getting recognition to the flag will be akin to that of getting recognition to the state anthem.
Bengaluru: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) working president Dinesh Gundurao on Sunday asserted that the state government was only making efforts to get due recognition to the existing Kannada flag, which he said was neither unconstitutional nor undemocratic.
Speaking after inaugurating Kannada Sahitya Sammelan at Gandhinagar here, Mr Gundurao said, “Our (Congress) effort is to get due recognition to our state flag. Let those speaking against it not politicise the issue.”
He said that getting recognition to the flag will be akin to that of getting recognition to the state anthem. “Therefore, I appeal to those opposing the demand for a separate flag for the state to refrain from politicising the issue,” he added.
Stating that the state government could not be mute to imposition of Hindi on its people, Mr Gundurao said, “Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has taken a bold stand in appealing to the Union government not to use Hindi in the signage of Namma Metro.”
