Udupi: The much-awaited post-mortem report of Shiroor Matha seer Lakshmivara Teertha Swamiji is said to have been submitted by the authorities.
According to sources, the report says the final cause of death will have to wait till the Forensic Science Lab (FSL) report.

Sri Lakshmivara Teertha Swamiji died on July 19. As per procedure, the viscera and other parts of the body were taken during the post-mortem and sent to the Forensic Lab for tests. After the detailed tests at the FSL lab, the FSL report would be sent to the doctor who conducted the post-mortem. The doctor would go through the FSL report and then give the final cause of death, said sources.

Lakshmivara Teertha Swamiji was admitted to a private hospital in Udupi on July 17 after he complained of diarrhoea. He was later shifted to Kasturba Hospital in Manipal on July 18 and was suffering from breathlessness, severe hypotension and gastrointestinal bleeding. Though doctors treated him, his condition deteriorated and he died on the morning of July 19.

The Swamiji's brother complained to the police that he had doubts over the cause of death. Based on this, the police have registered a UDR with suspicion under Section 174C of CRPC. Five teams have been constituted to probe the case.
