Hyderabad: Fake producer dupes 14 people
Rajesh collected a total of Rs 87,43,287.
Hyderabad: A 28-year-old man from Anantapur who posed as a film producer and duped eight persons on the pretext of providing jobs in Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (Bhel) on the city outskirts and collected about Rs 87 lakh was caught by the Jubilee Hills police on Tuesday.
According to Jubilee Hills police, the accused, K. Rajesh, came in contact with a woman fashion designer in the city in the middle of last year and claimed that he was a film producer. Rajesh convinced the woman that he had a large number of contacts and could influence government officials in providing a job for her brother at Bhel, located in Ramachandrapuram.
Rajesh took Rs 5 lakh from the designer initially. From November, he collected Rs 31,48,287 in total, after telling her that her brother had secured low grades in his Bachelor of Technology exam.
With no job coming up, woman lodged a complaint and the accused was traced and nabbed.
The police said that Rajesh was earlier arrested by the Madhapur police for obtaining credit cards on his friends’ names fraudulently and duping banks.
After his release from jail in 2018, he started a production house and named it ‘Hello Bharath Entertainments’, only with the intention of duping gullible people.
During the investigation, the police found that Rajesh had collected a total of Rs 87,43,287 from 14 persons, among which only six cases had been registered.
Rajesh was produced before a court for judicial remand on Tuesday, said a Jubilee Hills police officer.
