Bengaluru: The residents and shopkeepers of TC Palya main road near Ramamurthy Nagar are planning to invite Mayor Gangambike to be taken around the area and apprise her of the poor condition of the main road and the civic apathy.
Residents want to ensure that the Mayor should also be made to travel on the main road to give her a first-hand experience about its condition.
A group of residents and shopkeepers are planning to approach the Mayor in a few days and ask her to visit TC Palya. Sudesh Kumar, a resident of NRI Layout said, “We have not formed any association, but a group of people who reside near T.C. Palya Main Road and surrounding areas came together and decided to invite the Mayor to show her the condition of the road, where more than a lakh vehicles use this particular stretch every day.”
“The purpose is to make sure that the Mayor along with her officials travel on this 8-km stretch and see for themselves about the condition of the road. We will also take them in our cars to show them how it feels drive and ride on this stretch every day,” added Kumar
While Rahul Rao, owner of an apparel shop near Hoysala Nagar on T.C. Palya Main Road said, “Despite our protests none of the officials has visited the area. So, we decided we will directly talk to the top officials. We will ensure that the BBMP Mayor visits the road by next week and we want the road to be asphalted at any cost. We have lost faith in our local MLA Byrathi Basavaraj and so now we want the Mayor to take up the issue.”
When DC contacted a BBMP officer he claimed that they will soon start laying jelly stones and asphalt the road and blamed the rains for the delay. “We have seen the condition of the road and are trying our best to asphalt the road, but the rain is causing delay. But we can assure that in a month’s time, the road will be fixed,” he added.
