Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu approved infrastructure development projects in three zones of the capital region, under the Hybrid Annuity Model.

Each zone will include development of roads, bridges, drinking water, sewage and power facilities.

In a meeting at the Secretariat on Wednesday, APCRDA commissioner Dr. Cherukuri Sreedhar informed him that the contractors will be finalised in 3 days, and the procurement process will commence this week under HAM.

The commissioner presented the comparisons between the Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC) and HAM, and explained to the Chief Minister that HAM ensures access to sufficient private capital and high-quality service.

Under HAM, the progress of a project is linked to both physical and financial milestones that guarantee on-ground development.  The progress on the Rajiv Gandhi Park Redevelopment Project was presented by Lakshmi Parthasarathi, MD, Amaravati Development Corporation (ADC).

Representatives of the Water Resources department, Vijayawada Municipal Corporation, APSRTC, APTRANSCO and South Central Railways also participated in the meeting.

The land allocated to Rajiv Gandhi Park Redevelopment Project included area that belonged to the above organisations.

They were urged by the Chief Minister to convey to higher authorities, and partner with the Government of Andhra Pradesh. “We all have a common cause and that is to develop the transportation system and beautify the city,” he said.

Ms. Parthasarathi also informed the CM that the seed access roads, the boundaries and the land is ready for plantation.

The R&D team has  finalised the plants, based on the Chief Minister’s suggestions, and await the date to be finalised. The CM asked them to finalise the programme for the second week of September.

“The 280 acres of this park must be developed with creativity and efficiency,” he told them. Foster & Partners will meet the CM on Sept.  11  to present final designs of government complexes.
