Hyderabad: As many as 1,000 engineering students affiliated to the Osmania University held a joint protest in Hyderabad on Wednesday, demanding relaxation of the rules of detention system and for advance supplementary examinations.

Student organisations allege that around 4,000 engineering students failed the exams this year due to which they may have to face detention. Students demanded adequate gap between the exam timetables during examinations.

T. Laxman, vice-president  of SFI said, ‘“We demand to conduct immediate advance supplementary exams for the students who have failed this year, otherwise the students will loose an academic year if detained. Notification for supplementary exams should also be immediately released.”

Gopal Reddy, Registrar of Osmania University said,  “It’s a policy decision and now, the principal of the engineering department and the controller of examination will decide on the further course of action.
