Hyderabad: As dilly dallying on plot registration goes on, about 300 beneficiaries are not willing to register plots in their name but in their children’s name to prevent multiple registrations in the future.

The HMDA and the registration department have however turned down their request citing legal hurdles.

The beneficiaries were told to register the land in their name and asked them to transfer it as gift deed later.

The HMDA has categorically stated that registration cannot be undertaken on another person’s name as the land is allotted only to the beneficiaries.

Furthermore, there will not be any link document if the property is directly transferred to any of the family members, HMDA officials pointed out.

According to D. Narasimha Reddy, president of the Beneficiaries’ Association, they have to pay 1.5 per cent stamp duty to transfer it to their children. “We wanted to avoid this. However, the authorities do not favour it,” he said.

The beneficiaries have decided to follow the instructions of the MHDA.
