Chennai: Israel has more than pilgrimage tourism to offer to the Indians. The layers of history and museums, besides other exotic destinations including Eliat would charm any visitor, claims Hassan Madah, director of Tourism, India & Phillippines.

“Though the financial aid provided by the governments of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have brought more tourists from south India, we have other segments like adventure, MICE and honeymoon destinations to offer. Of course, you need not miss your masala dosa, as there are vegetarian restaurants too,” he added. Israel also boasts of numerous ancient vineries.

Wine making is over 2,000 years old, he claims. According to Mr. Hassan, Israel received 34,300 Indian visitors this year (till July) and Israel hopes to welcome 55,000 Indian tourists by 2018. “We hope to receive over two lakh Indian visitors in the next two to three years provided there is increase in air connectivity,” he said on Wednesday.
