Hyderabad: The Centre on Monday accorded hydrology clearance for the Kaleswaram project, estimating that 284.30 tmc ft of water was available at Medigadda — the confluence of the Godavari and Pranahita rivers.

Thanking the Centre, minister T. Harish Rao said the clearance is a slap on the face of critics.

He said, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has changed the design of the Pranahita-Chevella scheme and fixed Medigadda. Mr Harish Rao said the Centre had recently cleared Stage-1 permissions to use 7,825 acres of forests for the project.
