Coaching puts extra burden on DSC aspirants
The DSC exams will start on December 6 and will continue till January 2 for various categories.
Vijayawada: There is a huge demand at DSC coaching centres in view of the short time for DSC exams for teacher recruitment.
The AP state government issued a notification for DSC-2018 to fill 7,729 vacant teachers’ posts in 13 districts of AP state and nearly 7 lakh unemployed expect to attend the exams. The DSC exams will start on December 6 and will continue till January 2 for various categories.
Aspirants expected at least three months to prepare for the DSC exams but their hopes were shattered with government’s decision of conducting DSC in December.
According to reports, most teacher aspirants pr-efer short-term coaching to prepare for the exams. The DSC coaching centres have increased the fee fr-om '20,000 to '50,000 acco-rding to the subjects. DSC coaching has picked up over the past two days in coaching centres at Vijaya-wada, Guntur, Avanigad-da, Machilipatnam, Nello-re, Rajahmundry, Kakin-ada, Eluru, Visakhapatn-am, Chittoor and other centres.
The DSC exam was cond-ucted in 2014 in which 10,318 vacant teachers’ po-sts were filled. Later, the state government annou-nced conducting DSC for the past three years but this failed to materialise. Finally, the government gave the notification now.
Aspirants had taken coa-ching in private coaching centres several times in the past. Now, the government has increased the syllabus, forcing DSC aspirants to return to the coa-ching centres to hone their skills in just one month.
DSC aspirants P. Raghu, Sk Nagur Vali and others said that earlier there was only DSC for Secondary Grade Teachers (SGT) asp-irants but now the Teach-ers’ Eligibility Test is also included, hence they have to study DSC and TET material in one month, which is a Herculean task.
They stated that adding to their woes, this time the written test has been cha-nged into a computer bas-ed test which is forcing aspirants to take training for computer mock tests.
