Thiruvananthapuram: The online application process for National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for medical admissions will begin on November 1. The forms are available on the official website nta.ac.in.

The pen-and-paper test will be held on May 5. The admit card can be downloaded from April 15. The results will be released on June 5.

There will be a three-hour exam which includes three sections - physics, chemistry and biology.

Of the total 180 questions, 90 will be from biology and 45 each from physics and chemistry of class 11 and 12 NCERT textbooks. Every correct answer will be given plus-four marks and every incorrect answer will result in a negative mark. Questions that are not attempted do not have any penalty marks.

Qualifying in National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test is also mandatory for students who intend to pursue medical and dental courses abroad. Apart from MBBS and BDS, National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test will offer admissions to all Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) undergraduate courses. Indian and foreign nationals, National Residents of India (NRIs), Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) and Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) are eligible to apply for National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test if they fulfil the age and academic requirements. The upper age limit, which was reintroduced for NEET 2018, has been stayed and is likely to remain for the students applying for NEET 2019. Hence, candidate should be between 17 and 25 years and 30 years for reserved categories. A minimum score of 50 percent marks is required for general candidates and 40 percent in case of SC/ST/OBC in science subjects in the aggregate. A pass in all these subjects individually, including English, is also required.
