Thiruvananthapuram: Rich tributes to Abhimanyu at SFI meet
The flag march for the SFI All India conference had started from Abhim-anyu's village Vattavada on October 23.
Thiruvananthapuram: The 16th all India Confe-rence of SFI began in Shimla on Tuesday paying rich tributes to Mah-arajas College student Abhimanyu who was brutally murdered in Ernakulam in July.
The main venue of the delegate session has been named ‘Abhimanyu Manch’. SFI national president V.P. Sanu hoisted the flag which was brought from Abhiman-yu's native place in Iduk-ki, at the venue amidst ‘Red Salute Abhamanyu -long live Abhimanyu’ slogans.
The flag march for the SFI All India conference had started from Abhim-anyu's village Vattavada on October 23. Abhima-nyu's father Manoharan handed over the flag to SFI state leaders.
Around 655 delegates representing 23 states with a membership of 40 lakh are taking part in the national conference.
Journalist P Sianath inaugurated the delegate session which was followed by presentation of draft organisational rep-ort by national secretary Dr Vikarm Singh. After two-day discussions on the report, the delegates will elect their new national office bearers on November 2.
The conference will conclude with a public meeting to be addressed by CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury.
This is the second time that national conference is being held in Hindi heartland. The last conference was held in Sikar, Rajasthan.
