Hyderabad: In what turned out to be a big mess, branches of an old tree collapsed on an electric pole, which then fell onto a building with glass cover, at West Marredpally on the busy Friday evening, blocking the route. However, no one was injured.

The Secunderabad Cantonment Board blocked the West Marredpally road, after Agra Sweets and leading up to the Wellington Gate for some time.

Electricity supply to the surrounding colonies was snapped during the  evening hours to carry out the restoration works.

The residents complained that the old tree was on the verge of collapse and its branches often fell people walking on the road.

On Friday, a heavy branch fell. The SCB staff chopped the branches.
