Security beefed up for Numaish
As many as 200 volunteers and watch and ward volunteers had been recruited from 18 colleges.
Hyderabad: The much-awaited popular annual exhibition of Hyderabad, Numaish, would begin on January 1 amid tight security and traffic restrictions.
She Team officials and several crime teams would be deployed at the venue, said a senior official of the Hyderabad Police.
“This year, we will be deploying She Teams and also will be installing 50 CCTV cameras specifically for the exhibition. We will also be providing signages to motorists to avoid any sort of confusion. There would be regular frisking, security arrangements and night patrolling,” said additional deputy commissioner of police, Central, Ch. Sudhakar.
As many as 200 volunteers and watch and ward volunteers had been recruited from 18 colleges. They would be posted at various points and gates for visitors’ safety. There would also be a police stall near the entrance.
As many as 103 private security guards and supervisors would be engaged to manage three entry points at Gandhi Bhavan, Ajanta and Goshamahal gates, said an official.
Officials of Hyderabad traffic police said smooth flow of traffic and parking would be ensured. “We are ready with our plans and arrangements for the upcoming exhibition,” said DCP, Traffic, Hyderabad, A.V. Ranganath.
“Free parking space would be provided for the public and we have asked the authorities to increase the number of volunteers this year. Last year, we received several complaints that some of the volunteers were charging money for parking and to avoid that, we will be setting up signs and also higher officials will be present in the vicinity for the public to approach and complain about any issues they face,” he added.
