Mysuru: Former chief minister Siddaramaiah alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders are indulging in horse trading and are offering Rs 25-30 crore to each MLA.
“If they are not corrupt, from where will they get such large amounts of money,” he asked, after arriving in Mysuru on Sunday.
“The Bharatiya Janata Party won 104 Assembly seats and aspires for chief minister’s post. Since it was not possible, they are taking such a route,” he said. On miffed Congress leader Ramesh Jarkiholi threatening to quit the party after being dropped from the cabinet, he said, “I have not been able to contact him over phone.”
On the proposal to introduce English in government schools, he said, “There are two opinions on this by different sections. One which is in favour and the other which is against. I will talk to the chief minister about it.”
On the appointment of chairpersons for boards and corporations, he said, “30 chairpersons, including 20 from the Congress, will be appointed. That will be done soon.”
On the appointment to Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, he said, “It will be done as per the directions of the Supreme Court.”
On Public Works Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) leader H.D. Revanna’s statement on giving portfolios to Dalits, Mr Siddaramaiah said, “I stand by the statement of Mr R.V. Deshpande, who is the senior most minister of our party, on this.”
