Hyderabad: Outer Ring Road, several flyovers shut for New Year's eve
Organisers of various events have been directed to recruit private security personnel for traffic management at the venue.
Hyderabad: Rachakonda and Cyberabad police have issued traffic advisories for New Year’s Eve, announcing the closure of certain roads from 11 pm on December 31 to 12 to 5 am on January 1.
Rachakonda commissioner Mahesh M. Bhagwat said that the Outer Ring Road (ORR) will be closed for light motor vehicles and passenger vehicles, medium and heavy goods vehicles will be allowed. Passengers travelling to the Shamshabad airport in light motor vehicles will be allowed on the ORR subject to production of tickets on request.
Kamineni flyover and Chintalkunta underpass will be closed for light motor vehicles and passenger vehicles from 10 pm on Monday to 5 am on January 1. Medium and heavy goods vehicles will be allowed, said officials.

Mr Bhagwat said the police would instal check posts at various places to check rash driving, triple riding and drunk driving.
The Cyberabad police has advised motorists not to resort to drunk driving on New Year’s Eve. Cyberabad police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar said the traffic police would carry out massive vehicle checking the ORR and highways for drunk driving and observing speed limits.
He said the ORR and all flyovers in Cyberabad and the PVNR Expressway would be closed from 11 pm on December 31 to 5 am on January 1. He advised people to pool vehicles to attend New Year celebrations.
