VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will celebrate New Year 2022 with people by distributing hiked pensions at Pratipadu in Guntur on Saturday, January 1. The pension given, which was so far Rs 2,000 per month, will go up to Rs 2,250 per month from January 1, 2021.

Officials are busy making arrangements for the event at Pratipadu. Guntur district in-charge minister Ch. Sri Ranganatha Raju, Rajya Sabha MP Mopidevi Venkataramana, MLA Ambati Rambabu and others visited the venue to oversee arrangements.

Minister Raju maintained that, unlike the previous Telugu Desam regime, the YSRC government is offering welfare schemes on a saturation basis. For the purpose, Jagan Mohan Reddy is disbursing Rs 700 crore despite Covid-19 crisis.

MP Venkataramana declared that the Chief Minister has turned AP in a model state in the country in implementation of welfare schemes, receiving accolades at the national level.

MLA Rambabu recalled that the earlier TD government offered Rs 1,000 as pension. When the YSRC, which was in the Opposition then, promised to increase the pension, the then Telugu Desam government increased it to Rs 2,000. But people put their trust in Jagan Mohan Reddy. “As a man of his words, the Chief Minister has increased the pension to Rs 2,250,” Rambabu pointed out.
