Chhattisgarh Sends Finest Aromatic Rice for Ram Temple Consecration in Ayodhya

Raipur: A total of 300 metric tonnes of aromatic rice was on Saturday dispatched from Chhattisgarh, considered the ‘nanihal’ (the place of maternal grandparents) of Lord Ram, to Ayodhya for the consecration ceremony in the Ram temple there, scheduled to be held on January 22.

Chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai here in the afternoon flagged off 11 trucks carrying the rice consignment for the “Ramji Bhog and Bhandara” in Ayodhya Ram temple for the occasion.

“Chhattisgarh is known as ‘nanihal’ of Lord Ram. We feel blessed to get the opportunity to play our part in the consecration ceremony in the Ayodhya Ram temple by sending the rice consignment”, Mr Sai said.

The rice millers association of Chhattisgarh organised a function at Sri Ram Mandir here to dispatch the rice consignment to Ayodhya Ram temple.

“The rice was offered to prepare ‘Prasad’ in the consecration ceremony of Ram temple in Ayodhya”, a spokesman of Chhattisgarh government said.

The rice millers association of Chhattisgarh had procured the aromatic rice in Chhattisgarh, known as the rice bowl, to offer for the consecration ceremony of Ram temple in Ayodhya.

“We have procured the best variety of aromatic rice, RB Gold, produced in Chhattisgarh to offer for the consecration ceremony of Ram temple in Ayodhya. This is an offer from ‘nanihal’ of Lord Ram”, the association president Yogesh Agrawal said.

Chhattisgarh has a mythological link to Lord Ram.

Chandkhuri on the outskirts of Raipur is believed to be the birthplace of Kaushalya Devi, mother of Lord Ram.

There is a temple dedicated to Kaushalya Devi, the only such shrine in the world, in Chandkhuri.

Lord Ram was believed to have spent some days in Chhattisgarh during his 14-year-exile period, being developed by the state government as “Ram Gaman Path”.

The Chhattisgarh government has identified 248 places in the state, where Lord Ram, his wife Devi Sita and brother Laxman spent during their exile period, for their development under the ‘Ram Gaman Path’ project.
